Five people were arrested during an incident at Utrecht Central Station. According to the police, it was a fight between “a number of people”.
One person was taken to hospital with unknown injuries. The identity of the victim is not yet known.
Police were called to a stabbing incident at the station forecourt around 5:15 a.m., but a spokesperson later confirmed that no weapons had been used.
A NOS editor on site saw at least ten police officers running from the station hall onto a platform. Two men were arrested there.
Train traffic to and from the station was temporarily stopped by order of the police, but has now resumed.
It has been a nuisance for years
The station square of Utrecht Central Station has been experiencing nuisance for years. In 2022, the municipality made it possible to impose a denial of residence for people who cause nuisance on the station square. A denial of residence can only be imposed in an area where there is structural nuisance.
