A meeting between Visual Arts, Pentecost and Architecture of Church Buildings
The national event Feast of the Spirit takes place once every two years in the period from Ascension Day to Whit Monday. It is a national event in which churches and artists are linked together: In Zuidhorn these are: Dorpskerk Zuidhorn – Gosse Koopmans / Gastkerk Zuidhorn – Claartje van der Linden. The churches are open between 1:00 PM and 5:00 PM. Artists may be present at the location.
The open churches are a playful and visual source of inspiration for people who are looking for contemporary art, cultural history, forms of spirituality, faith, meaning and recreational relaxation. This beautiful event, based on the Pentecost festival, as a festival of inspiration, makes a connection with contemporary art. By allowing images, words and sounds to appeal to people’s imagination.
