Job description
Do you want to use your expertise in the field of communication for a socially relevant goal? And are you enthusiastic about research and education? Then this new position could be a good fit for you. The Ubbo Emmius Fund (UEF) is the most dynamic university fund in the Netherlands. The fund makes special projects possible at the University of Groningen thanks to the support of private individuals and capital funds. The fund’s ambitions have grown rapidly, creating space for an enthusiastic Senior Communications Advisor.

Profile sketch

In this new role, together with the director and the Development Manager, you are responsible for the fundraising strategy of the Ubbo Emmius Fund. You translate the UEF’s scientific projects into appealing propositions and campaigns for our target groups: existing and future donors, the university’s alumni network, capital funds and other external stakeholders. You advise the team on branding and positioning, with the recruitment of new donations and relationship management with existing donors being the most important goal. The UEF team consists of the director, development manager, relationship manager, controller and project administrator. The team is part of the Alumni Relations department of the RUG (11 people).

What you’re going to do
• You translate the fundraising strategy into a communication plan and develop the resources required for this. This involves various channels: website and social media, newsletters, print (brochures, annual reports).
• You develop (online) campaigns for recruiting donations among alumni and other private donors. You develop these campaigns together with the development team and you implement the projects yourself or in collaboration with an agency.
• You write communication plans for the research and education projects funded by the UEF. This concerns content for impact stories and resources that can be used for recruitment.
• You increase the visibility of the UEF in the funds and charities sector, the press and the RUG community.
• You make analyzes based on the results of mailings and campaigns to gain insight into interaction, giving behavior and interests. With this you advise the team to use the events, recruitment and campaigns as targeted as possible.
• You oversee and monitor the e-mail systems and payment modules (Mollie, iDeal, etc.) for campaigns and the registration of mailings in the CRM system.
• You inspire the director, the development team and the alumni relations department by following developments in the field of communication and fundraising and sharing your own insights and ideas about this.

Job requirements

The candidate we are looking for:
• at least a completed higher professional education
• at least 3-5 years of work experience in the field of communications, preferably in the non-profit sector (charities, NGOs, culture, capital funds) or in business
• you have a sense of storytelling and a creative, precise pen. Dutch is your first language and you speak English well
• you are motivated to commit to a socially relevant cause, you are enthusiastic about the idea of ​​being part of a fundraising team
• you work independently and in a structured manner, you like to take the initiative yourself and you are strong in planning & organization
• you have previously worked on (online) campaigns and are familiar with collaborating with agencies
• affinity with education and research is an advantage.

Employment conditions
We offer in accordance with the collective labor agreement for Dutch Universities
• a salary of a minimum of €4,332 and a maximum of €5,929 gross per month based on a 40-hour working week, based on scale 11 and the UFO communications officer 2 profile

• a temporary appointment of 40 hours per week for one year with extension for an indefinite period if performance is good
