HARDENBERG – It seemed so beautiful; a toilet for the truck cabin. Ideal for truck drivers who, for example, suffer from a bladder or intestinal disorder. However, on Tuesday April 16, this noble initiative came to an end. Truck-Toilet BV was, as it now appears, declared bankrupt on that day by the court of Overijssel.

In 2021, Arend Hendrik Zweers and Herman Ribberink, former truck drivers and now entrepreneurs, started the Truck-Toilet company.

The plan had been on the shelf for some time, waiting to be implemented. The corona crisis accelerated the idea in 2021. Partly due to the problems surrounding the developments that truck drivers were not allowed to use the toilet at many companies during the corona pandemic.

The men developed a toilet that could be placed in place of the passenger seat.

“The driver who needs to go goes to the toilet. Place the closing unit over the collection bag and then press the seat down firmly. Before use, place the collection bag on the bottom ring and the seat can be lowered. After use, he places the closing unit over the collection bag and then presses the seat down firmly. Then he takes the bag and throws it away.”

“It is otherwise odorless,” Ribberink emphasizes in an interview with Transport Online in 2021. Although there is no chemical substance in the bag to guarantee a fresh environment.

In the newspaper De Stentor, the curator explains that bankruptcy has been filed by a creditor who could not be paid on time. According to Zweers, the company was doing well, he told the newspaper: “We had turnover, it was running reasonably well. But not hard enough. If we have an investor, we will continue anyway. We must have enough money, a buffer.”

It is currently unknown whether there will be a restart.
