Due to work on the cellars under the Kromme Nieuwegracht, part of the road will be opened on May 13. This means that motorists will have to take quite a detour until September.

At the beginning of last month, the restoration of the vault walls and cellars at the Kromme Nieuwegracht 56. The vaults of these cellars are being repaired from above and a water-resistant layer is also being applied. This means that the street in front of the building at this house number opens from the facade to the canal.

The street is therefore closed during the work. The map above shows the diversion route for cars. Drivers must drive via the Wittevrouwensingel, Voorstraat, Lange Jansstraat, Domstraat and Pieterskerkhof to finally return to the Kromme Nieuwegracht. “On the Kromme Nieuwegracht between house numbers 24 and 54, it is temporarily allowed to drive in two directions from Pieterstraat,” the municipality writes.

Cyclists are also unable to pass the works and will therefore have to take a detour. The building at Kromme Nieuwegracht 56 ​​will remain accessible via a footbridge and this bridge can also be used by pedestrians to pass the work. The street is expected to be closed until September this year.
