98 organists have registered for the annual Northern Netherlands Organ Day. This is Saturday May 11 in 98 churches. The organs are played in most churches from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Participants are allowed to play the organ for half an hour at a time. The organs in the Petruskerk in Zuidbroek, Dorpskerk Meeden and the former Protestant church in Muntendam are also participating again.

Of these 3 churches, the organ in Zuidbroek, with 9 of the 12 time blocks filled, is the most occupied. In Muntendam this is four times and in Meeden only twice.

Opening concert

After the Organ Day Northern Netherlands, the opening concert of this season will be given at 5 p.m. in the Petruskerk in Leens. Euwe and Sybolt de Jong will provide this concert.

Carefully

Playing the organs is possible for everyone. The organization does say that participants must realize that organs are instruments that must be handled with care. It is therefore requested that the method of playing is properly adapted to the organs.

Hinszorgel Leens Foundation

The Northern Netherlands Organ Day has been held since 1977. The organization is in the hands of the Hinszorgel Leens Foundation.

Busy all day

The organs in 5 churches are busy all day. These are the Petrus Church in Leens (10 times), Sebastiaan Church in Warffum (12), Martini Church in Groningen (12), the reborn church in Farmsum (12) and the Petrus and Paulus Church in Loppersum (12).
