In the new phase, the west side of Julianaplein is now open in one direction. The closures have been moved to the east side of Julianaplein and the southern ring road. Traffic will be diverted via the rest of the ring road.
To prevent extra traffic through the Helpman and Oosterpoort districts, three traffic measures have been taken there. For example, traffic from the Helperzoom tunnel on the Helperzoom is now required to turn right and traffic from the Helperzoom towards the Hereweg goes via a temporary road over the construction site at the Kempkensberg. In addition, a temporary driveway from the Meeuwerderweg to the Hereweg will open on May 4.
Helperzoomtunnel (until September 2)
Car traffic coming from the east (Europapark) through the Helperzoom tunnel must turn right. This prevents too much traffic in the south of Helpman.
Traffic coming from the Helperzoom tunnel from Helperpark must turn right towards the station until September 2. The Hereweg can be reached via the temporary road over the Kempkensberg (near DUO).
Temporary road over the Kempkensberg (until September 2)
Traffic that wants to head to Hereweg from Helperzoom can use the temporary road over the Kempkensberg. This is a one-way road in front of the DUO/Tax Authorities building. There are traffic lights at the junction with Hereweg.
Temporary driveway Meeuwerderweg (from May 4 to July 19)
A temporary driveway from the Meeuwerderweg (Oosterpoortwijk) to the ring road will be opened on Saturday, May 4. This driveway continues to the old Helpman exit, which leads to Hereweg. This means that the residents of the Oosterpoortwijk have an additional option to travel ‘by rail’ until mid-July. This ramp will disappear again at the end of July, because the viaduct above the railway will be demolished shortly afterwards.
