The municipality of Utrecht has asked the squatters at Fortlaan 42 to leave and also plans to press charges. The area is being redeveloped and the building where the squatters are staying must also be demolished.

The Fortlaan and surrounding area in Zuilen must connect better with the Niftarlake Park and the ecological zone around the Vecht. Extra green is mainly added, but also a recreation and playing field. Preparatory work has already started.

There are several addresses on Fortlaan, but there is also a vacant lot and a municipal building that was vacant until recently. Squatters moved into the building in April. The municipality requires them to leave as soon as possible, otherwise there could be delays in developments.

The municipality of Utrecht announced on Wednesday: “We are now in contact with the current squatters. They indicate that they want to continue using this place for as long as possible. We have now asked them to leave at short notice.” Reports are also being filed against the squatters.
