The MBO students who participated last year had a great time. This year, no MBO students will have to miss this week, says KEI chairman Esther Slomp.
Student life in Groningen
First-year students and students transitioning to further education get an insight into student life in Groningen during the KEI week. This should also be possible for MBO students.
Togetherness
This year the theme of the week is ‘Time To Talk: Better Together’. The organization wants to emphasize solidarity. This can be between students and Stadjers (the residents of the city of Groningen), but this also applies to students themselves.
Safe space
The KEI week will also bring back the safe space. Students who do not feel comfortable during the day, in the evening or at night can recharge in this low-stimulus space.
BBB party leader Caroline van der Plas did not agree with a safe space last year. Van der Plas thought that youth were made too soft by ‘our generation’. But the KEI board indicated that the students themselves came up with the idea for the low-stimulus space.
This year the introduction week for students is from August 12 to 16. There will be various performances by artists on the Grote Markt on Monday and Tuesday evenings.
