SLIEDRECHT – For the first time in the history of Sliedrecht, there will be activities on Liberation Day on Sunday, May 5, 2024 around the Dr. Langeveldplein. There are no closing fireworks. We celebrate on Sundaye the liberation of the Netherlands in 1945 and that we have lived in freedom ever since. We also stand dthat day reflects on the value of freedom, democracy and human rights.

In the morning a ship with several hundred people leaves for a liberation cruise through the Biesbosch. In the afternoon there will be activities in front of the town hall until the early evening. The program looks like this:

  • 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.: liberation cruise
  • 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM: Children’s activities on the Dr. Langeveldplein. For youth up to 12 years old. Including a merry-go-round, a bouncy castle and a slide.
  • 3 p.m.: liberation ball in the bandstand
  • 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM: The Boys From You Know
  • 4:00 PM – 4:45 PM: Toon Schut
  • 4:45 PM – 5:45 PM: The Boys From You Know Who
  • 6 p.m.: Music off; catering industry remains open
  • 7 p.m.: End of Liberation Day, catering closes
