The shop window of the former Vapiano building on the Nieuwe Markt has a new purpose as a pop-up Art Library from Kunstpunt Groningen. Passers-by can view art from the loan and videos here, along with changing work by Groningen artists.
The position is temporary, initially for a period of three months. Director Lieselot Van Damme sees opportunities in the temporary use of the building: “This is a fantastic opportunity to bring a broader audience into contact with the work of Groningen artists and our Art Loan collection.”
Exhibition opportunity for Groningen artists
Kunstpunt wants to showcase work by Groningen artists. Interested professional artists can register by sending an email to [email protected]. The conditions can be found on the Kunstpunt website.
In addition, the window alternately shows work from the regular collection and the Studio Collection of the Kunstuitleen. The Studio Collection consists of art that comes directly from the studios of northern artists, with which Kunstpunt supports artists in their professional practice. As part of the Atelier collection: solo exhibition ‘Into the City’ by Lourens Stuurman, which is currently on display at Kunstpunt, attention is also paid to his work in the building on the Nieuwe Markt.
The Kunstuitleen pop-up serves as a showcase in which a small part of the Kunstuitleen collection is on display. If you want to see more of the collection or borrow art, you can go to Kunstpunt at Trompsingel 27a, about a 10-minute walk from the Nieuwe Markt. The pop-up Kunstuitleen will open its doors on June 8 during the Maakfestival in the Forum.
