A motorist rammed a terrace on Weesperstraat in the center this afternoon. It was a one-sided accident. The car didn’t hit anyone.

The single-vehicle accident occurred at 2:20 p.m. There was no one on the terrace at the time of the accident. “Luckily the sun is not shining on that terrace now,” said a bystander.

In addition to the driver, there was also a passenger in the car. According to the bystander, the two were helped out of the car by witnesses after the accident. They did not appear to be seriously injured. The driver was very shocked by the accident.

The owner of the business tells AT5 that she heard that the car hit the facade at full speed. “There were people inside, fortunately they were unharmed. Both my colleagues and some guests who were inside. They were sitting by the window, but they just got up to get their food.”

Both occupants of the car were checked by ambulance personnel and taken to hospital, a police spokesperson said. She cannot yet say anything about the cause, but she also speaks of a one-sided accident.
