NEW PEKELA – On Saturday, May 11, another festive day for organ lovers in the Northern Netherlands will be celebrated. The long-awaited Organ Day Northern Netherlands, an annual event known for its beautiful organ music, will take place. This initiative, hosted by the Hinsz-orgel Leens Foundation, is made possible by the dedication of local church administrators and volunteers.

With an impressive participation from almost 100 churches, mainly in the province of Groningen, on this day the doors are wide open for visitors to admire and even play the organs. Organists could make a reservation for half an hour per organ, allowing visitors to gain a unique experience.

The Luthers Erfgoed Pekela Foundation offers organists the opportunity to play on the monumental Van Oeckelen organ on Saturday. On May 11, visitors can enjoy beautiful organ music in the Luterse Church in Nieuwe Pekela from 1:20 PM to 3:00 PM. Entrance is free and there is an opportunity for a pleasant meeting while enjoying coffee, tea and cake.

The program in the Lutheran Church at A. Westersstraat A 1 in Nieuwe Pekela includes performances by JP Eerde from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM and M. van der Laan-Niebuur from 2:30 PM to 3:00 PM. The church doors are open from 1:20 PM and everyone is welcome to take part in this wonderful celebration of organ music.

Traditionally, the day ends with an organ concert in the Petruskerk in Leens. This year the season opening concert at 5:00 PM will be provided by the talented Euwe and Sybolt De Jong.
