What you will do at Utrecht University of Applied Sciences
With a nose for news and an eye for participation, administrative matters and political issues, you tell in a smooth writing style what really happens at Utrecht University of Applied Sciences. You can translate the news into background stories and use the network that you have enjoyed building within the university. One day you write a number of short messages about, for example, the queer community, the student union or a new director. The other day you are mainly busy with a story about a problematic merger.

You work independently on your pieces, but you are also part of a small team of professional journalists who enjoy working together. You are given the freedom to work with your input.

In addition to a challenging job as an editor at Trajectum, the HU is an employer with great ambitions and good conditions:

-You will initially receive an annual contract (D3) with a size of 0.6 FTE. We immediately express our intention to enter into an employment contract for an indefinite period. Internal applicants retain their current contract form.
-Depending on your knowledge and skills, your responsibilities and tasks will be determined. On this basis, a salary will be classified in scale 9, with a maximum salary of a minimum of €3,370.00 and a maximum of €4,582.91 for a full-time appointment.
-In addition, you will receive a holiday allowance of 8% and a guaranteed end-of-year bonus of 8.3%.
-A contribution to the health insurance personal contribution of €300.00 gross per year and an internet allowance of €37.50 net for a full-time appointment.
-An NS Business Card so that all your public transport trips (for work and private) are free of charge. Would you rather come by car or bicycle? Then you will receive an excellent mileage allowance.
-We offer you excellent study and development opportunities through our own HU Development Portal.
-With full-time employment, there is the possibility of up to 428 hours of leave per year and 45 hours of sustainable employability.
-Of course, we will also loan you a laptop and a smartphone so that you can work independently of your location and we also offer you the opportunity to use nice extras such as our bicycle plan, insurance discounts, software and fitness. Together with the social partners, we strive for agreements that really work and are based on good employer practices and good employee practices.

Your profile
You are results-oriented, can work well together and take initiative. We would like to receive your motivation and an overview of your experience. In any case, we read in your CV that you:

-Have a completed journalism education, or something similar.
-Have experience in a journalistic environment.
-Have experience in maintaining a network.
-Easy to write fluently readable pieces with content.

In addition to the knowledge and experience you have, we think it is just as important who you are. When we talk to each other, the following becomes clear to us from your examples:

-You are critical and ask questions in order to uncover the right story.
-You have a nose for the latest news and interesting stories.
-You can work independently and approach people easily.
-You are pleasant to be around.
-You do not shy away from reading a tough document if necessary.
-You are aware of our target group: mainly students.
