Oakberry Utrecht is one of the six franchise stores in the Netherlands. “Oakberry will have 12 stores open here by the end of the summer. In Utrecht, a second branch will open in Hoog Catharijne in June,” says the spokesperson. The chain can already be found in Rotterdam, Amsterdam and The Hague and started in Brazil: the country where the acai bowl comes from. Utrecht Oudegracht will be open from the weekend of May 19.
How does it work?
In the restaurant you can create your own acai bowl. What does that look like? You get a cup containing different layers of frozen berries and, for example, mango puree, chia pudding and granola. You can also choose from unlimited toppings such as cacao ibs and crumbled pacoca. This is a Brazilian candy made from peanuts, sweeteners and salt. The prices of a bowl vary between 12 and 17 euros. You can also score smoothies. “It is a vegan and gluten-free product. We call it superfood: it is healthy fast food.”
