The municipal council nominates Yvonne van Mastrigt as the new mayor of Middelburg

Yes: there is white smoke! Tonight the municipal council of the Municipality of Middelburg decided to nominate a new mayor. For the first time in history, this is a woman: Yvonne van Mastrigt.

We didn’t know her name yet, so we started Googling. You will learn a lot if you read the entry on Wikipedia and possibly follow the links to the sources. You can then conclude that this woman indeed has a lot of administrative experience and certainly not only as an (acting) mayor.

From media reports you can conclude that she likes to get things done and can be very involved at the same time. We also looked up X and collected a few tweets. It’s just an anthology of course, but hopefully it gives a nice first impression of this woman.

If you want to go back a little further in time, you may have to look elsewhere. In Delpher for example. A 23-year-old Yvonne van Mastrigt as an agent! Nice, right?

Of course, we do not know who the other candidates were, but we understand that the council made this choice. She has what you call a strong profile and impressive CV. If nothing strange happens, she can start working in Middelburg at the end of August. More about this on the municipality’s website.
