The province of Drenthe will exchange or offer natural land in the Drentsche Aa area for sale. Other landowners will have the same opportunity. These are private individuals and site managers such as Natuurmonumenten and Staatsbosbeheer.

This concerns a new trial by the province, called ‘Groenruil Drentsche Aa’. This was set up to sell or exchange (natural) land in a public, transparent and balanced price.

In recent years, the province has purchased parts of the Drentsche Aa and redeveloped it as nature. These natural areas have become part of the Nature Network Netherlands (NNN), thus forming a continuous network of nature in Drenthe. This land retains its natural status after exchange or sale. The province wants to get rid of it, because it does not see itself as the ‘final manager’ of these areas.

Companies, foundations, site management organizations and private individuals can register with Prolander to participate in the Groenruil. They are executing the project together with the Land Registry. Afterwards, the province will check whether Groenruil can also be used elsewhere in Drenthe.

An information meeting will be held on May 21 for those interested. The project team will provide more explanation in Café Hofsteenge in Rolde. The meeting lasts from 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM.
