The new Grote Markt in Groningen is almost ready. On June 1 we celebrate the Jouw Grote Markt festival together. In the meantime, the municipality is also busy producing a nice book about this redesigned square. With a lot of history, interesting facts and how this place has fared over the years.
Naturally, the current approach also receives a lot of attention. Naturally, with many photos, drawings and other visual material.
Your Grote Markt moment
The book also includes contributions from Stadjers and other Groningen residents. After all, it is also their Grote Markt.
Therefore, an appeal to the residents: Have you ever experienced anything memorable at this important place for the city? Have you asked your loved one for her hand in marriage? Were you there cheering on the newly promoted FC? Did you float anxiously high on a fairground attraction? Did you ever make your best purchase at the flea market? Or do you have another interesting, exciting or strong story about this historic place, perhaps handed down by your (grand)parents?
City residents
Interested residents are asked to write down their Grote Markt moment in Groningen, in a maximum of 100 words. So short and sweet. And they can also provide a nice, suitable photo or other illustration at the same time. The editors of the book then make a selection from the submissions. Who knows, maybe ‘your’ contribution will be included in the book that will be published in December. Submissions can be sent to: [email protected]. This is possible until June 15.
