Several photos of the Pride Photo exhibition in Assen have recently been taped. A slap in the face, according to the organization. It concerns photos where kissing or naked men can be seen.

“Not suitable for our children – parents” reads a cardboard banner that was pasted on one of the panels last night. The photo series on this panel, taken by photographer Robert Coombs, shows the sexual experience of a disabled gay man. In other images, genitals and kissing men are covered with tape.

In several cities, these photos have already been defaced or destroyed by shocked residents. “Apparently we are not the only ones who think that these photos are forced on us. This is not necessary, is it? Hang these photos in a museum, but not in a place where children play,” the parents said in an email.

An absurd reaction, according to Jaap de Jong, chairman of the Asser Regenboog Alliance (ARA) foundation. “I did not expect something like this to happen in Assen. The people here are so level-headed, but apparently I was wrong.”
