Listening figures week 18: Qmusic reach leader, JOE’s rise continues

--

Not a nice day on the Bergweg in Hilversum. No profit for that Radio 10where programming is being overhauled. Radio 538 and Sky Radio losing market share, with Sky again reaching above 4 million in weekly reach last week, but losing considerably in listening time again. We do experience fluctuations due to less work listening and different listening behavior due to the May holidays.

The Millennium Top 1500 does not seem to extend listening time and 538 has not brought any extra listeners since April 28, all the off format records do not seem to have done the station any good and Qmusic did, where the current hits could simply be heard. Maybe the tail end of the list, which ends today, will do something for them. It’s still strange to start a hit list on a Sunday and end it in the middle of the week. I understand that after King’s Day, 538 thought they would maintain the festive feeling for a while. Nice for the deejays that they can jump on their socials to Liberté and other drive-in show hits from the past 25 years, but there is clearly little sentiment on this music and this hit list doesn’t have enough of that ‘I don’t want to miss anything’ feeling evoked by the 538 listener.

The 538 evening show also deserves a slap on the fingers by pretending that they had heard the news ‘somewhere’ from ‘someone’ that 538 DJ Jordi Warners himself is TikTok sensation and hit machine Boer Harm. Or at least one of the men performing with that mask on. https://twitter.com/KICKEN/status/1784186372703633793. It’s nice how they take it further by inviting Jordi and Harm to the studio at the same time next Friday. Anyway, that mask suits us all.

NPO Radio 2 and NPO Radio 5 jointly lose 2% market share, which seems to benefit mainly JOE, Qmusic and 100%NL. The demise at Radio Veronica seems final, as it stands now Wout & Frank will have to settle for only 1.7% market share when they start in the afternoon in a few weeks, about 7 times less than what they were used to at 2 on Friday afternoon.

The start of Coen and Sander on JOE is not yet visible in this measurement, because only this week. You can see that the hype around it is already having some effect. This post on Instagram from the Coen and Sander Show is striking. First from home, why would you do it that way? Could they be voice tracks from 6am-7am?
