Van ‘t Schip will not be head coach of Ajax next year

John van ‘t Schip will definitely not continue as head coach at Ajax, but will continue in an administrative role. The current interim coach of the Amsterdam club had a conversation with the new general manager Alex Kroes during the international break in which this was discussed.

It is no surprise that Van ‘t Schip will continue as director of Ajax. After all, it was the role he was recruited for at the beginning of this season.

Yet, until recently, Van ‘t Schip kept the door to a longer term as Ajax coach ajar. That is now definitely over.

“I spoke with Kroes about my future and what exactly it could be. That is something for several years. We have to see what role that will be exactly.”

Van ‘t Schip joined Ajax after the dismissal of Maurice Steijn. Ajax was then at the bottom of the Premier League and is now fifth. After the winter break, however, the people of Amsterdam are having a hard time again.

Van ‘t Schip has made peace with the fact that he will not continue as head coach. “It was clear to me from the start that this was the job. Of course you know that things can change in football, but I have no problems with this.”

John van ‘t Schip (seen in the video below) also discussed Brian Brobbey’s injury in more detail. Should the medical staff have acted differently?
