Felicity Huffman will have a regular role in the series Criminal Minds: Evolution. The actress, best known for Desperate Housewives, will play a psychiatrist. It is Huffman’s first major acting job after she was convicted of fraud in 2019.
Huffman will star as Jill Gideon, a brilliant psychiatrist and the ex-wife of Jason Gideon, the character Mandy Patinkin played in the series years ago. Criminal Minds: Evolution is about the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit, which tries to solve crimes by analyzing the behavior of perpetrators. Huffman’s character is temporarily added to the team because she can help solve a difficult case.
Criminal Minds was broadcast between 2005 and 2019. The series made a restart last season. Patinkin, also known for Homelandappeared for 47 episodes as leader of the Behavioral Analysis Unit.
It is Huffman’s first role in a major series since the student fraud scandal for which she was convicted in 2019. The actress paid money to get her daughter into the right college. At the time, she thought this was the only option to give her “a future”.
The actress was ultimately only detained for eleven of the fourteen days imposed. Her husband William H. Macy was acquitted.
