Talpa Network will collaborate with the Viaplay Group, known for Formula 1. A selection from Viaplay’s sports offering can therefore be seen from Friday on Viaplay TV, the new name of the Talpa channel SBS9.

Viaplay TV will broadcast Formula 1 summaries, among other things. The Japanese GP can even be seen in its entirety on the new channel next Sunday, April 7. But that won’t be live. The broadcast starts at 1 p.m., seven hours later than the race actually starts.

For the time being, the live races will remain reserved for Viaplay’s paid streaming service. The TV channel will show live darts matches from the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) and football matches from the English Premier League and German Bundesliga.

“Every month we review which matches will be shown live,” a spokesperson told NU.nl. It is also possible that after the Japanese GP, several F1 races will be broadcast in their entirety later on Viaplay TV, formerly SBS9.

Talpa Network and Viaplay Group want to increase the sports offering in the near future. In addition, international series and films, as well as home-grown entertainment, will continue to be shown on Viaplay TV.

“We are fully committed to our open media strategy and this means that we are constantly looking in the market for opportunities to collaborate with attractive partners. The partnership with Viaplay is illustrative of this,” says Joost Brakel, CEO of Talpa Network.

All Viaplay sports content shown on Viaplay TV will remain fully available on Viaplay’s streaming service.
