Khalid Kasem will not return to television for the time being. BNNVARA reported this on Wednesday after a conversation with the presenter.

The parties agree that a return “because of all the discussion surrounding his person” is not an option.

The positive statement by the dean of the Amsterdam Bar Association last week makes no difference in this decision, the broadcaster reports. In the coming weeks, BNNVARA and Kasem will discuss what the decision means for their collaboration in the longer term.

Sophie Hilbrand reported on Tuesday evening Sophie & Jeroen also that Kasem will not return to the talk show this season. The program’s season runs through May 31. Hilbrand will continue to present the program for the rest of the season alongside Jeroen Pauw, who replaced Kasem at the beginning of January.

Kasem receives formal warning

Former lawyer Kasem presented the talk show in early January Khalid & Sophie down, because it A.D had linked him to bribery. After investigation, the dean found that there are no indications that Kasem is guilty.

Kasem does receive a formal warning. He received this because in one case he made inappropriate statements to a client in order to get an invoice paid.

But last week, lawyer Geertjan van Oosten filed a complaint against Kasem with the dean of the Amsterdam Bar Association. Van Oosten has asked the dean to bring the issue surrounding his former colleague to the disciplinary board. Kasem worked in the Van Oosten office in the past.
