What will happen and what won’t?

Little is as shrouded in mystery as the final form and composition of the future cabinet, but the future of Saab continuation NEVS and its electric Emily is almost as mysterious. AutoWeek can show you a bunch of plates of what is likely an extensive and possibly new electric model family.

It is bubbling in the former Saab capital Trollhättan. Saab continuation NEVS had big plans to continue with the remnants of the Swedish brand, but it was not to be. The company, plagued by financial problems, almost completely shut down its activities last year in the hope of averting bankruptcy. NEVS worked on Project Emily, a model family of electric models, of which we could already show you the Emily GT – a sedan. The Emily family should have gotten more models, including not only a station wagon, but also a coupe and a convertible. However, an SUV was also in the pipeline.

EV Electra, based in Canada – whose origins are in Lebanon – has purchased the rights and almost everything surrounding the electric Emily family from NEVS, it became clear at the end of last year. EV Electra has plans to continue with the Emily project and is sharing a video on its social channels showing off the station, convertible and coupe variants of the Emily range. AutoWeek found the images of that trio in the database of the European patent office. They appear to be little more than screenshots of the video showing the said four-wheelers. More striking, however, is that they were actually filed as patent plates on April 18. Not by EV Electra, but by NEVS.

However, there is more. There has been footage of the three new Emily variants floating around the internet for a while, but AutoWeek can also show you a model that has not been written about before. In the same database we found two patent plates of an electric SUV. That car is also covered in design that seems to connect it to the Emily series and these plates were also not submitted by EV Electra, but by NEVS.

It is not yet clear to us what the status of EV Electra’s plans are for the Emily family. We are awaiting a response from both EV Electra and NEVS. EV Electra seems certain for the time being that it will continue developing EVs in Sweden, but plans to set up a factory in Trollhättan do not yet appear to have been approved by the local authorities. We wait.
