Orange fun in Breda: after rain and pin failure, 538 King’s Day really gets going

--

It started rainy and then there was also a pin failure, but it didn’t spoil the orange fun in Breda. In the meantime, 538 King’s Day is in full swing at the Chasséveld.

Around one o’clock the cash registers on the Chasséveld started to malfunction. Producer Niels van Baarlen of 538 already saw the downpour: “Within fifteen minutes the entire site was flat, so we could no longer help anyone with fries or a drink.”

A crisis team had to be involved and additional connections were established. About an hour and a half later, thirsty visitors could again use their debit card to go to the tap: “The most important thing is that everyone can now get their beer again. We still have to calculate how much the disruption has cost us.”

“I have a few other performances, but Brabant remains the most fun.

In the meantime, visitors could count on a wide range of Dutch artists, who also appreciate the Brabant atmosphere. Douwe Bob has just come off stage: “Dear people, they are looking forward to a party and the weather is not in their way. It is always a party in Brabant.”

Vughten resident Flemming also agrees with this: “40,000 people, having a blast here in Breda. I have a few other performances, but Brabant remains the best. You can only have such an atmosphere here.”

For Nick Schilder it was exciting to be here: “It was the first time that I performed here as a solo artist. Fortunately, people participated well. The sun broke through during the performance. It is a very beautiful day today. Such an orange crowd remains magical.”

In the meantime, we took a royal family quiz with the Brabant artists:

In that orange crowd is Jeffry Slootmaaker (21) from Zeeland with his friends: “It’s great fun and the artists are great. It’s also nice that they change quickly so you always have someone new on stage.”

Eva Meesters (19) and Tara van Dinther (19) from Boxmeer did not experience anything from the pin malfunction. The girls are still waiting for one artist they are both fans of: ‘Antoon!’
