The contracts have not yet been signed, but that is a matter of time. Robin van Persie will soon commit to a two-year contract as coach of SC Heerenveen.
It is still unclear when the all-time top scorer of the Dutch national team will be presented in the Abe Lenstra stadium. But once the final wrinkles have been ironed out in the negotiations between club and trainer, Robin van Persie will become Heerenveen’s coach until mid-2026.
That is no longer a surprise. That became clear last week almost all signals were green between Van Persie and Heerenveen. However, in recent days it has also become clear that the coaching post of Van Persie’s current club Feyenoord will become available next season due to the impending departure of Arne Slot to Liverpool.
But the latter does not affect the plans that Van Persie and Heerenveen have for each other. It is therefore a matter of time before Van Persie starts his first job as head coach, while general manager Ferry de Haan and the club’s supervisory board bring in their dream candidate.
