Corsair wants to appeal to both gamers and hard workers by focusing equally on productivity and entertainment. Although the product name suggests that we are dealing with a 65% keyboard, Corsair surprises here with a 75% layout. This gives users access to essential shortcuts that are often missing on smaller models. Subtle tweaks to the keyboard layout, such as the slightly offset arrow keys, show that Corsair has put some thought into ways to meet user needs. The keyboard is slightly larger than its competitors, but weighs less than 1 kilo and is therefore still very portable.

This keyboard provides connectivity in several ways: via Bluetooth and a wireless 2.4GHz mode via a USB dongle. The built-in 4200mAh battery should be good for a working time of approximately 266 hours with the RGB lighting turned off. Of course there is also the ‘wired’ option.

The Corsair MLX Red switches are the only option for the K65 Plus. These switches should provide a smooth and satisfying typing experience and are combined with dual sound-dampening techniques, using foam and silicone. With this, Corsair wants to challenge traditional mechanical keyboards. Additionally, the hot-swap functionality increases the attractiveness of the keyboard by giving users the freedom to easily replace switches. This contributes to the keyboard’s durability and adaptability in the long term.

Corsair claims that the included iCue software takes personalization to the next level, with extensive options for lighting effects and key commands. Although the polling rate is not adjustable, most users will find the default setting of 1000Hz sufficient. The RGB lighting is not translucent through the keycaps, but falls under and around them, so to speak, treating gamers to an atmospheric glow.
