The Frisian artist was flanked by friends Appie Mussa and Martijn van Eijzeren, who also supported him on the Eurovision Song Contest stage. “It’s actually fun with my friends, but I wouldn’t last another three days. I feel like I’ve been here for seven days already.”

Klein and his entourage were clearly noticed by the international media. Mussa cackled in his blue bird suit, Europapa was frequently deployed and Klein shouted several times to the journalists present that all twelve points had to go to the Netherlands next week.

Despite the shouting and talking, Klein’s voice remained at full volume. “My voice is doing really well, I can still rap,” he assured. “I’ll start working with my vocal coach again soon.”

Klein does voice exercises “every day” these days, he continued. So he thinks it should be possible to shout. “Besides, I’ve been screaming for so many years. An hour and a half is nothing, man,” he joked. “You should see me on the weekend.”

The foreign press wanted to know a lot about Klein’s outfit and also inquired about the details of the much-discussed blue bird. To be sure, he was also asked whether his entry was not a joke. “But people now understand that it is no longer a joke.”
