We may have already caught a glimpse of that Pencil, courtesy of the X account https://twitter.com/ribu_ap712/status/1787461116211479032. This leaker discovered in the source code of Apple’s Japanese website that the image for the upcoming event has a special description here. As you can see below, this picture is described as a cartoonist holding an ‘Apple Pencil Pro’.
Real or not?
The question now is whether there will actually be an Apple Pencil Pro. The code of the American version of Apple.com does not have such a description, according to tech blog 9to5Mac. So it may be an error on the Japanese website. We even saw a similar story earlier: images of the iPhone 14 Plus on Apple’s website were always called ‘iPhone 14 Max’, while the name was incorrect.
Apple currently sells three models of the stylus: the Apple Pencil 1, Apple Pencil 2, and the cheaper Apple Pencil with USB-C. That lineup is quite confusing, though – which Pencil you need depends on the iPad model you have. The next Apple Pencil may make this less confusing, for example by replacing the first two generations. In that case, the Apple Pencil with USB-C and the new Apple Pencil 3 or Pro would be compatible with all iPads, and it depends on your own budget which version you want to buy.
