Oh yeah. If you register, you will receive a letter from Graydon the next day with something to the effect of ‘We are going to make your data transparent to anyone who has money for it’. As far as I know, opting out is not possible. Edit: Here is the letter.

I gave up a phone number from a disposable SIM for the last time, I don’t feel like making all those marketing calls anymore. You have to pay to be in the Trade Register, then also pay for an extract (SQL query > automated email, that’s 16 euros kthxbye) and to top it all off, the Chamber of Commerce simply sells your data. Unbelievable and good that something is being done about it.

Another relevant piece from their ‘About your data’ page:

To be forgotten/oblivion

You have the right to be “forgotten” in our database and therefore have your personal data deleted. For our “Market Information” service, this is an absolute right and we will no longer use your data for marketing purposes at your request.

For our other services, this is not an absolute right and Graydon uses a legitimate interest to process your company’s personal data. For this purpose, we have drawn up a general assessment of interests in advance and carefully weighed your interests as a data subject against the legitimate interests of Graydon and its customers.

It is of course possible that in your case your personal interests outweigh the interests of Graydon and its customers, as a result of which we must delete your personal data. Do you think your interests weigh more heavily? Please contact us via the contact form on this page so that we can reconsider the weighing of interests. We do need your specific interest to be able to make this assessment again. So don’t forget to add this.
