Fiorentina is in the final of the Conference League for the second year in a row, after a 1-1 draw at Club Brugge. After a 3-2 victory in Italy, the draw was enough to reach the final on June 29 in Athens.
The match in the semi-finals of the Conference League was already played tonight, by the Holy Blood Procession that takes place on Thursday in Bruges. In the match on Wednesday evening, the Italians took a lead towards Belgium, but quickly fell behind. Within twenty minutes, Bruges struck. Captain Hans Vanaken’s good cross was not touched by anyone, causing the ball to simply plop into the far corner.
The number nine of Serie A certainly showed something in return in the first half. Chances for Andrea Belotti and Nicolás González did not result in a goal and Christian Kouamé also failed to score. The Ivorian saw his beautiful attempt deflected by the crossbar.
In the second half the match turned Fiorentina’s way. Fifteen minutes before the end it hit the aluminum twice more, but in the 85th minute it was hit. After referee Halil Umut Meler had placed the ball on the spot, Lucas Beltran scored the liberating goal for Vincenzo Italiano’s team.
