Parking permits have become a lot more expensive in recent years. Car owners in Heereveen and Nijkerk in particular will pay a lot more this year than in 2021. But no one pays as much as the residents of the center of Amsterdam.

What you pay for your permit varies. That depends on the municipality in which you live. In six of the ten municipalities with a parking permit area, costs have increased since 2021, according to an analysis by the ANP.

Car owners who live in the center of Heerenveen will have to pay considerably more this year. The Frisian municipality has more than doubled the costs: from 45 euros per year in 2021 to 100 euros in 2024. The municipality says that this was necessary because there had been no increases in previous years.

Behind Heerenveen, the rate rose most strongly in Nijkerk. There, car owners paid almost 72 percent more for a parking permit. Prices also rose sharply this year in Lochem, Rijswijk, The Hague and Gouda.

Yet it will not surprise anyone that car owners who live in the center of Amsterdam pay the most for a parking permit. This year they pay 630 euros. In 2021 this was 568 euros, so that is ‘only’ an increase of 11 percent.

Center residents of Utrecht are also expensive: they pay 615 euros this year. People in the city center of Groningen pay 370 euros and residents in Den Bosch are also not cheap with 368 euros.
