A remarkable moment occurred in the third round match at Roland Garros between Yoshihito Nishioka and Thiago Seyboth Wild. The Japanese tennis player took a break after he was penalized for a minute-long tirade at the referee, after a ball was hit or not.

With a 5-5 score in the second set (the first set went 3-6 to Seyboth Wild) and 30-30 in the game, Nishioka thought to score a winner with a winner, but the ball was given out. As a result, Wild came to an important break point, which Nishioka had a hard time swallowing. He said the ball was in.

Nishioka cried out and asked the referee to show the footage of the point: ,,Show me the video,’ the Japanese shouted. The referee did not agree and handed him a penalty after the tirade of the Japanese. Nishioka automatically lost another point because of that penalty and therefore took a break. An exasperated Nishioka still grabbed the second set via a tiebreak.

Koolhof to quarterfinals doubles

Tennis player Wesley Koolhof and his British partner Neal Skupski have qualified for the quarterfinals of the doubles at Roland Garros. The first placed duo was too strong for Kazakh Aleksandr Nedovjesov and Miguel Ángel Reyes-Varela from Mexico in two sets: 7-5 6-4. In the quarterfinals, Koolhof and Skupski will meet the winners of the match between Marcel Granollers from Spain and Horacio Zeballos from Argentina, who will face Brazil’s Marcelo Melo and Australian John Peers.

Wimbledon winner Rybakina withdraws

Elena Rybakina has withdrawn from the third round at Roland Garros. The 23-year-old tennis player from Kazakhstan did not play against the Spanish Sara Sorribes Tormo due to illness. Rybakina was seeded fourth at the Grand Slam tournament in Paris and is also number 4 in the world rankings. Last year, Rybakina won Wimbledon. This year she was the best in Indian Wells and Rome.

“I didn’t sleep for two nights and I had a bit of a fever. Today I really tried in the warm-up, but I feel it is the right decision to withdraw. I will try to recover and prepare as best I can for the grass season,” said Rybakina.
