The Mercedes team has had a disastrous start to the season. The German racing team cannot yet compete for prizes and the disappointment is very great. Team boss Toto Wolff hopes for improvement, but according to Hans-Joachim Stuck, Wolff would already have been fired in a different situation.

Mercedes completely changed the design this year in the hope of competing for the world title. But so far this plan has not worked, the gap to Red Bull Racing and Ferrari is far too great. The McLaren and Aston Martin teams are also regularly faster. In Australia, Mercedes reached a low point as Lewis Hamilton and George Russell both retired.

Former driver Hans-Joachim Stuck is extremely critical of Mercedes and team boss Toto Wolff. The German thinks that in a different situation Wolff might be out of a job. In conversation with Eurosport, Stuck is very clear about this: “Mercedes is simply not at the level of Red Bull and Ferrari. For Wolff it is probably an advantage that he is co-owner of the team. If it really is purely a Mercedes team, I’m not sure he would still be working there. To put it bluntly, the chief designer would also have to be replaced. They simply lack the right approach.”
