The organization of Paris-Roubaix announced a few days before the race that it would include a chicane in the course, in the run-up to the Forest of Wallers. This cannot count on everyone’s understanding, because on X Mathieu van der Poel seems to express his dissatisfaction with that adjustment.

With the chicane, the organization of Paris-Roubaix attempts to reduce the speed of the peloton in the run-up to the cobblestone section of the Forest of Wallers. Because this road has a downward slope and there is also competition for a good position at the head of the peloton, the speed here is extremely high every year, which can lead to nasty falls.

The organization made the adjustment to the course after a request from the riders’ union CPA, but surprisingly enough, not all drivers seem to agree with it. In a message on “Is this a joke?” he writes with a video of the route adjustment.

Another former winner of dhe hell of the North, Dylan van Baarle seems to welcome the decision. He responds on the same social media platform with two emojis of hands clasped together, which are often used as a positive message or to encourage something. Van Baarle himself had a hard crash last year in the Bos van Wallers.
