Things are still not going entirely as planned with Viaplay. The streaming service that broadcasts Formula 1 in the Netherlands announced today that the number of subscribers has fallen significantly in the first three months of the current year compared to the same period last year.

Viaplay has owned the broadcast rights of Formula 1 in the Netherlands since 2022. The streaming service has gone through tough times, in which they received a lot of criticism and in which they faced significant financial problems. Things now seem to be going better with Viaplay and GPToday.net was able to reveal last week that they will broadcast Formula 1 in the Netherlands again next year.

Despite these major steps, things are not yet going exactly as planned at Viaplay. Today the streaming service announced the figures for the first three months of this year. It showed that the number of subscribers fell by almost a fifth in the first three months of the year compared to the same period last year. The company has managed to significantly reduce its debt of five billion kroner. According to De Telegraaf, this now stands at more than 500 million kroner. The company received a capital injection last year that saved them from bankruptcy.
