Max Verstappen won the F1 Grand Prix of China for the first time last weekend by outpacing the rest of the field with a thirteen-second lead. Yet Peter Windsor, former sponsor and team manager in F1, saw that something was wrong after the race: Lando Norris was declared the winner.

Error in live timing with Verstappen after GP China

However, according to Windsor, the weekend became even more chaotic after the race when it turned out that the timing did not indicate Verstappen, but Norris as the winner. This was to the delight of the fans present and the surprise of journalists, the teams and analysts. “Verstappen had of course won the Grand Prix, but after the flag dropped all systems showed Lando Norris as the winner of the race, including live timing. Whether this was wishful thinking on anyone’s part, I don’t know, but this remained the case at all screens were like that for at least five minutes. Norris had won that race, ahead of Sergio Pérez, and Max Verstappen, with the complete race times next to it.”

According to Windsor, Norris was the winner for five minutes in the live timing before the FIA ​​and FOM could restore it. “This is the moment when all the major television companies and media look at who won the race.
