Rumors surrounding Newey’s future

Aston Martin has reportedly offered the technical chief of Red Bull Racing two hundred million for a four-year contract, while foreign media report that the 65-year-old Briton is in advanced talks with Ferrari. Newey’s departure from his current employer could leave its mark. Newey has been of great importance in the current dominance of Red Bull Racing, but Verstappen also attaches great importance to the Briton’s employment.

In conversation with RaceXpress Jos Verstappen is asked how he views the situation surrounding Newey and the rumors that a departure is imminent: “Normally I won’t say anything about that,” he said. “What should I say about it? I don’t know anything about that. Basically there is a deal between him and Red Bull, and we’ll see about the rest. I can’t say anything about that. We all know what he has achieved and how good he is,” said the Limburger.
