Yesterday Feyenoord announced that part of the yellow side – section X, R, S and T – will remain closed during the match against Excelsior. The KNVB imposed this sanction following the lighting of fireworks in the cup match against FC Groningen. However, there was confusion about this this morning.

The Dutch Football Association then released a message stating the following: “Playing the next home match of the first team in the KNVB competition, cup competition or play-offs (the Feyenoord – Excelsior match dated May 19, 2024), where the persons who have a season ticket for boxes and T should not have access to the stadium.”

However, Feyenoord – Excelsior is not the next home match. That is the match next Sunday, May 5 against PEC Zwolle (8:00 PM). Inquiries from 1908.nl show that the KNVB made an error in the message that appeared this morning. Below is the association’s response:

“When imposing such a sanction, the operational status of the next home match of the BVO involved is taken into account for disciplinary reasons. For the upcoming playing weekend, all kinds of matters have already been arranged by the club and then it is very short notice. “By imposing the sanction for a later playing weekend, we put less organizational pressure on the BVO in the short term.”

The KNVB has now adjusted the text. Now the message reads: “Playing the home match Feyenoord – Excelsior on May 19, 2024, where people who have a season ticket for sections X, R, S and T are not allowed to have access to the stadium.” The football association will therefore no longer talk about the next home match.
