A PSV championship traditionally includes the flat cart on which the team is driven through the city. It is the ultimate party for the supporters, players and staff. Kusters Logistics has been providing this flat cart for 25 years. The cart was already polished in December, now it is almost completely ready. “We are proud that we can participate in this. It is a special job.” This year an extra cart has even been prepared.

If PSV has a good season and has a wide lead over the number two in the Eredivisie, sooner or later the term will fall flat. The semi-trailer is driven through Eindhoven during a championship and the party is celebrated with the entire city. If PSV becomes champion, this year will be the first time since 2018 that the flat cart can go outside again.

When the championship fever rises, they are alert at Kusters Logistics in Eindhoven, because then they can start working at the transport and logistics company. “My father-in-law once started it,” says Roy van de Zande, an employee of Kusters. “We have been doing all kinds of jobs for the municipality for years: events, arranging road blocks, installing crowd barriers. It is unique that we can participate in this.”

The first preparations have already been made, says Van de Zande. At Kusters the entire trailer is prepared, but they have nothing to do with the new stickers. “The PSV marketing department will arrange this. It is a well-kept secret. The cart will only be taken out on Monday morning, on the day of the ceremony.” This year there are even two flat carts: the largest and highest is for players and staff, the smaller one for the players’ wives and their children.

The fact that they still supply the flat cart makes Kusters employees proud. “I know there are privateers on the coast ready to take over, but we have so much knowledge. We just know what needs to be done.”

The staff makes the flat cart with great pleasure, because almost all of the employees are PSV fans. “We only have one Ajax player in house. It’s been a bit of a joke lately. But it was also the case the other way around, when Ajax kept winning the prizes and we didn’t.”

It is great advertising for Kusters. “Especially now that our own trucks are also allowed to pull the flat carts. In other years, cars from Mercedes were driven. PSV had a contract with them. BMW is the new sponsor, but it has no trucks,” says Van de Zande. “Then it’s great that there are two of our own DAF trucks. More Eindhoven is hardly possible!”

If PSV becomes champion next Sunday, the flatbed cart will first go to the stadium on Monday, May 6, to pick up the players and staff. After a short pit stop at De Verlening, the triumphal procession continues through the center towards Stadhuisplein. The official ceremony will take place there around half past seven in the evening.
