Vitesse’s crowdfunding is in full swing. The campaign – which is called ‘For Yellow-Black’ – can count on a lot of support. Several former players and next season’s coach – John van den Brom – have already donated.
Together with John van den Brom, former players and staff members such as Guram Kashia, Loïs Openda, Henk ten Cate, Matúš Bero, Milot Rashica, Leo Beenhakker, Wilfried Bony, Lewis Baker, Remko Pasveer, Hans van Arum, René Eijer , Arnold Kruiswijk and Matt Miazga donated for their club.
Next season’s head coach John van den Brom kicked off today: “As I already indicated, this is the time to support the club. I am therefore happy to kick off this initiative with several former Vitesse players. I call on everyone to show their yellow – to let the black heart speak and to stand up en masse for our club. Vitesse must not disappear!”
In recent times, Vitesse has been inundated with questions about how to support the club. On its own website, Vitesse calls for contributions via vitesse.nl/voorgeelzwart, but the club is also open to other initiatives.
Danger of losing license
Within two weeks, Vitesse must convince the KNVB licensing committee that it is healthy enough to be able to play next season, otherwise the club will not receive a license and risk bankruptcy. Vitesse has already been relegated from the Eredivisie due to a deduction of eighteen points.
Vitesse is struggling with a debt of approximately nineteen million euros and is without a lender after the rejected takeover by the American Coley Parry. The shares are still officially owned by the Russian Valeriy Oyf, but he no longer gives money and it is also possible that he is still involved in the club.
