The rumors surrounding Max Verstappen and a possible departure to Mercedes have grown considerably in the past week after the departure of Adrian Newey from Red Bull Racing and words from father Jos Verstappen. The Dutchman now responds to what he thinks about a possible switch to the Zilverarrows.

At the beginning of this season, a major riot suddenly broke out within the Red Bull team with the investigation into Horner. The bomb then exploded internally and there even seemed to be a real power struggle within the organization. 150 million is no incentive

On the media day for the Miami Grand Prix, the first moment that the drivers can be put through their paces again after the big news, Verstappen is of course asked questions about the various rumors. For example, it was circulating that a contract for as much as 150 million per year is ready: “Ultimately, even if that were the case with 150 million, money is not a motivation for me to go somewhere else. even happy with what I currently earn and therefore it is purely about performance. I know myself well enough to know that I would be irritated if I were to drive for P5 or P6. In that respect it is purely about performance that too, everyone knows that,” quotes Motorsport.com the Dutchman.

Angling by Wolff

The three-time world champion continues: “In the end, it’s about having the fastest car. I’ve always said that and fortunately in recent years we have had the fastest car at Red Bull.” The Limburger understands that the Mercedes team continues to fish for Verstappen via Toto Wolff, despite the fact that the car is currently not great: “No, that is not crazy because everyone must always be optimistic and hopeful about things. I can only but say that I want to stay with the team at the moment, because I believe in the project we have together with everyone involved. But of course in sport and also in life you never know what can happen in the future.”
