Jordan Henderson returns to Ajax’s base on Sunday afternoon when he visits FC Volendam. The midfielder has been missing since the end of March with a muscle injury, but is now fit again. Steven Berghuis is also back in the selection, but he takes a seat on the bench.

At the back, John van ‘t Schip sticks to the same names as in the home match against Excelsior (2-2). This means that Ajax will again play with four defenders. As a result, Kenneth Taylor, who has regularly played as a left wing-back in recent times, will be back in midfield.

Taylor will form the midfield together with Sivert Mannsverk and Jordan Henderson. The latter has been missing due to an injury recently, but upon his return to the match selection, he will be able to make an appearance straight from the kick-off due to Benjamin Tahirovic’s suspension against FC Volendam. Tahirovic received his fifth yellow card of the season against Excelsior.

Up front, Ajax has to make do without Steven Bergwijn, who is also suspended. The attacker received a red card against Excelsior after he pushed Mimeirhel Benita to the ground. Due to the absence of the captain, Chuba Akpom is allowed to play from kick-off. He forms the vanguard together with Brian Brobbey and Mika Godts.

Ajax line-up: Rulli; Rensch, Sutalo, Kaplan, Hato; Henderson, Mannsverk; Akpom, Taylor, Godts; Brobbey.
