Jahanbakhsh on his future: “It would be nice to play there”

Alireza Jahanbakhsh will probably leave Feyenoord at the end of this season. The Iranian’s contract in Rotterdam is expiring and so he will look for a new club. Santiago Gimenez also has a chance of a transfer, but clubs will have to transfer a significant amount to Rotterdam.

“The Bundesliga has always been one of my favorite competitions,” says Jahanbakhsh in Kick ‘t Met Ziggo Sports. “As you said, Iran had a lot of players there. Those guys played at a high level in the Bundesliga for many years. When I was growing up, we looked up to these guys in the national team. I also love the Italian league. Now we have players there , so it would be nice to play there. But you can never predict your future.”

Jahanbakhsh is a player who has already experienced a lot in his career and has even reached the Premier League. He regularly gives tips to Gimenez. “We got to know each other well and discussed the whole situation in detail. The Premier League is great. Every footballer would say it is a dream to play in the Premier League. The biggest difference I have noticed between the Eredivisie and Premier League is the pace. The pace is very important. You play against many more quality players there.”

Gimenez also obviously has career ambitions and a number of clubs in mind, but he does not want to say them out loud. “In Spain they speak the same language. It’s closer to Latin American. But the Premier League is the best football in the world. Of course I have preferences, but I wouldn’t want to say them out loud because then you close doors .”

Offer from Middle East
According to 1908.nl Jahanbakhsh recently received an offer from ‘the sandbox’. In the Middle East he can earn as much as five million dollars annually, but the Iranian himself thinks it is still a bit too early to wind down his career. He can also stay at Feyenoord for a significant salary reduction of 50%, but that is not an option.
