Steijn confirms interest: Several clubs are interested

Sem Steijn is in his first season as a permanent member of the team. In the preparation he convinced Oosting not to use Vlap, but him as the number ten. With success, because the team is third and Steijn, together with Ricky van Wolfswinkel, is the club’s top scorer with 14 goals. Before the winter break he had his best period and scored ten times. Due to his first half of the season and his type of play, Steijn has now attracted the attention of several German clubs. The first club he was linked with at the beginning of November was Werder Bremen. In conversation with Geert-Jan Jakobs of Voetbal International, the little goal thief confirms that he has already been inquired about.

“There was some interest in the winter, but I really wanted to finish the season at Twente.” Next summer, Steijn will look again at what the options are. It is not the first time that it has been said that he would be a great fit for the Bundesliga. “People often say. Germany is beautiful, Italy and Spain too.” However, it is not the case that the midfielder has to leave immediately after a good season at FC Twente. A club that wants him will have to dig deep, because he still has a continuous contract until mid-2025 plus an option and has a market value of 7 million euros.

“We will soon be going to Europe, which is also great. An ideal training ground. It will make a big difference in this region. The size of FC Twente really surprised me. In The Hague you have no idea about that. On King’s Day I was there for a while. In the city center of Enschede, you are not left alone. All those people, very enthusiastic. But outside Enschede it is the same. Whichever village we visit during the preparation, the sports parks are very full proud of their club. That’s special.”
