FC Utrecht included the option to purchase in Ryan Flamingo’s rental contract on Friday. The defender, who is one of the standouts for the Domstedelingen this season and is in the interest of PSV, comes permanently from Sassuolo.

The 21-year-old Flamingo played in 30 of Utrecht’s 32 matches this season. This makes him one of the most important players in coach Ron Jans’ team.

Flamingo signs a contract until mid-2027 in the Cathedral City. He still had a contract with Sassuolo until the end of next season. FC Utrecht has paid the Serie A club a transfer fee, but it is not known how much that amount is.

“Ryan has made a big impression since he came to our club and has developed very well in recent months,” says technical director Jordy Zuidam of FC Utrecht.

“He has become a key player in head coach Ron Jans’ team. Everyone within the club was convinced that we should exercise the option that was included in his rental agreement with Sassuolo.”

According to The Telegraph PSV already signed up for Flamingo in January, who made his debut for the Dutch Juniors this season. In recent weeks, PSV is said to have again signed for the versatile Flamingo, who can play as a controlling midfielder, central defender and right back.

Flamingo and FC Utrecht are almost certain of a place in the play-offs for European football. With two rounds to go, Utrecht is in seventh place in the Eredivisie.
