Dominic Thiem has announced that he will end his tennis career at the end of this season. The 30-year-old Austrian shared this news in a video on Instagram. Thiem is struggling with a lingering wrist injury.

“It’s not the way I wanted it to be, but I have thought about this moment for a long time. I have experienced success and the adventure has been incredible. I am very grateful for that. However, I have come to the conclusion that this was the only right decision I look forward to the future,” said Thiem. The tennis player does not mention what exactly he will do.

The former number three in the world reached his peak in 2020, when he won the US Open. He also reached the final of the Australian Open in 2018 and reached the final of Roland Garros in 2018 and 2019.
