AMD wants to make more parts of its software stack open source soon. The company also said it plans to release more Radeon hardware documentation and has developed a tracker through which the company will collect feedback on the ROCm software stack.

That software stack includes programming models and tools for AI and HPC software development on AMD GPUs. Because of that growing interest, the company says it has created a tracker to collect feedback and share updates.

The company also says it plans to make more parts of its software stack and hardware documentation open source “soon.” It is not clear exactly when and which parts this concerns; the company does not yet go into detail about this. ROCm is already relatively open, although AMD’s GPU firmware has still been closed for some time. There was recent criticism of this, Phoronix also writes.
