why the ring will win

--

People who do not wear a smartwatch often have a fitness tracker on their wrist to monitor their health. This will probably be completely replaced by the smart ring.

Smart ring vs fitness tracker

The fitness tracker may have had its day, and not just because Fitbit seems to be dying since Google took over. Companies such as Samsung believe in the smart ring as the successor to the fitness tracker and that is not surprising. Such a ring can also track your health and activities and offers many benefits.

1. Less noticeable

A trend that is visible with fitness trackers is that manufacturers do their best to make the bracelets as inconspicuous as possible. The bands and trackers are becoming thinner and smaller. Every manufacturer now also has options for straps that resemble jewelry, so that it is even less noticeable that you are wearing a fitness tracker.

There is a good reason for this, of course, because consumers demand it. Especially for those who are fashion conscious, a fitness tracker can clash enormously with the rest of the outfit. A smart ring is not only much less noticeable, but it also feels less prominent.

2. Better tracking

A tracker works better if it fits tightly against the skin, but we often wear a fitness tracker or smartwatch a little loosely because otherwise it becomes uncomfortable. By default, a ring sits close to the skin, giving you much more accurate results.

It can also feel strange to wear a fitness tracker to bed, while you have less trouble with a ring. Your sleep is then measured without you even realizing it.

3. Better battery life

A smart ring has no screen, and that makes a big difference when it comes to battery life. You don’t have to charge such a ring for at least a week, so you can wear the wearable and not have to think about it anymore. The absence of a screen also ensures less distraction.

Disadvantages of a smart ring

There are also reasons why you still prefer a fitness tracker on your wrist. For example, because you need a screen to monitor your heart rate or text messages.

A smart ring can also be inconvenient if, for example, you work a lot with bars and black weights during exercise. A fitness tracker on the wrist will then be less in the way.

This means there is a chance that fitness trackers will continue to exist on the market, even if the smart ring becomes a great success. Then you can choose: do you go for the wrist or a finger? What do you choose? Let us know in the comments below this article.

More about the Samsung Galaxy Ring

Samsung has already announced its smart ring, but the official unveiling won’t take place until later this year. Possibly during a Galaxy Unpacked event in July.
